My name is Miriam Roth, and I am a Secondary History and French Education double major at Hope College in Holland, MI. In the spring semester of 2016, my education coursework included a field placement in a tenth-grade United States History classroom, where I was able to conduct this case study with the support of my mentor teacher. I extend my most sincere thanks to him, and to his students, for allowing me to observe and study their classroom.

For this project, I received invaluable support and guidance from my professor and research mentor, Dr. Deborah Van Duinen, as well as funding and further support from the Hope College Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Scholars Program in the Arts and Humanities.

If you have any questions concerning this project and would like to know more, please contact me at roth.miriam.a@gmail.com.
